Day 222 – 06/15/11 – Blackberry

The eggs in the bird’s nest out front have hatched.  I tried to make an image of them for today, but neither they nor their mother were having any of it.  Perhaps tomorrow they’ll be a bit less camera shy.

Instead, tonight’s subject is another – likely the last – in the Fruit series.  I’ve finally come around to the blackberry.  I say finally, because this entire series was actually inspired by a wonderful blackberry image by David Williams.  Saving the inspiration for last just seemed fitting.

A high key blackberry.

A high key blackberry.

As seems to be the trend with the Fruit series, I ended up with a second image I liked nearly as much as the first.  Continuing to break my own rule, I’m posting both 🙂

A trio of blackberries.

As I finish up this series, I realize I’ve been negligent on putting together series recap collages.  I believe I need one for Fruit, Inside, and Shadows.  I’ll put those on the list for this weekend.

  1. I am really honoured my grape shot inspired you, thank you very much Jim! Personally, I like the second image over the first. Perhaps it’s the composition, or how on the bottom grape the lights makes it looks like there a bunch of little eyes looking me…either way, did you eat a lot of them? I know I did when taking my shot! 😛

I didn’t notice the eyes until you mentioned them, that’s awesome! I actually didn’t eat too many of the blackberries while I was shooting. Didn’t want to have the same problem I had with Lake Erie Monster and have the subject disappear before I was done with it! 🙂

  2. I like the second shot – may be because of the composition. I like the triangle’d center on your second shot too.

Both are great, but I’m also partial to the second one. Great composition.
