When I got home today the girls were excited by a discovery they’d made this afternoon: an active bird’s nest at eye level. They rushed me over to it to see the three speckled eggs or the mother bird, whichever happened to be there. The image of the day was fairly obvious at that point.
For anyone who’s concerned, we are in fact as close to the nest as we seem to be, but we’re separated by a pane of glass. This mother bird was kind enough to build her nest mere inches from our living room window, giving the girls a front row seat to watch the eggs over the next few days.
