Day 102 – 02/15/11 – Handle

The other day, out of the blue and for no reason at all, it dawned on me just how many types of handles, door knobs, and other fixtures there are in the average house.  We use these things constantly, but rarely ever actually see them.

So I decided to make an image of one of them.  This particular handle is a brushed antique brass model that I installed on most of the doors when I finished my basement several years ago.

An antique brass door handle.

An antique brass door handle.

There are a few other fixtures in the house that I’m thinking about shooting.  Not exactly the most exciting theme in the world I know.  But there are plentiful subjects, and their mundane nature will force me to find creative ways to depict them.  We’ll see how it goes.

  2. Graceful comes to mind, love how the handle leads you through the image! Rather smooth and elegant. Don’t even think it’s not “Exciting”, one great thing about photography is the simple fact that you can make a mundane object very fascinating, beautiful and interesting! 😀

  4. I totally agree with Mindy too! 🙂
This is great! I tried a doorknob once, but it just didn’t want to work out… Such a good idea and awesome result! 🙂
