Day 29 – 12/04/10 – Picking the Tree

We finally made it out to get the Christmas tree, a task we postponed last weekend.  We used to go cut our own, but the tree farm we went to has been replaced by a new development.  Now we get our tree at a local greenery which cuts them fresh.  Not quite the same environment as cutting our own, but it’s still a fun trip.

It’s always an interesting conversation as we each try to convince the others that the tree we picked should be the one we take home.  Here’s the big one guarding her choice, which ended up being the winning tree.  A ten foot Fraser Fir.  Should be fun to string the lights on tomorrow.

As a bonus shot today, here she is trying to catch a snowflake while she waited.  A few more from the trip are up on Flickr.

  1. I love the second one! It’s so cute!!!!

  2. Amy (my better 1/2) and I love the second photo, what a fun time! Was she able to catch any?

    • Jim Reed says:

She actually was able to catch one, much to her little sister’s chagrin. The little one tried for awhile and was convinced the snowflakes didn’t like her since she couldn’t catch one!

  3. Tara says:

The second photo is so cute! Love it!

    • Jim Reed says:

Thanks Tara, and thanks for stopping by! I considered using that shot for the Sweet Shot Tuesday, but wasn’t sure how the tongue sticking out would look out of context in a thumbnail! 😉

  4. Awesome Jim! We have to get ours. I think we will go tonight when my son gets home from school. It is just so flippin cold! I sure love how it makes the house smell when it is all done though!

  5. Jill says:

    These are great shots!!!! 🙂

    Really cute!

    Blessings,
    Jill
